About
Christine Vaskas has been singing and performing for almost as long as she's been alive. At the age of seven, she began to
take vocal lessons and appeared in numerous community theater productions. As she got a little older, she began to branch
out and started to perform at dinner events, street fairs, malls, and benefits. At 16, she began working at Bent Pussycat
Recording studio in Long Island, New York. There she learned the ins and outs of recording and production. Realizing that
she wanted to make music and performing her career, she started taking guitar lessons and writing her own music and lyrics
at 17. In less then a year, she wrote enough material for a full length CD that was released April 26th 2003. The CD, titled
Dare, contains 11 original songs composed by Christine Vaskas and Tom Cavanagh. The style of music varies from pop, country
rock, rock and folk. In 2003, Christine was voted Queen of the Long Island Music Scene, by Aural Fix magazine. She was featured
on the front cover of the magazine with a full-length article and interview. Her music has been featured on TV and radio stations
throughout Long Island as well. After performing in many New York venues as an acoustic duo with Tom Cavanagh, she released
an unplugged version of Dare in July 2004. The acoustic CD contains versions of her popular hits, with instruments such as
mandolin, lap steel and acoustic guitar. When she is not working as a music teacher, she performs at coffee houses, theaters,
open mics, clubs and does voice-overs. She has also performed the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden several times.
Christine's new CD, Stepping Outside Myself, was released July 11th, 2008 at The Bitter End in NYC. The CD is country/pop
with a hint of rock. It includes songs such as Love Story, Opportunity Knocks, Thinking Too Much, Detached and many more original
songs. Christine Vaskas is an artist that everyone should listen and watch out for. There is no doubt that with her talent
and ambition she is destined to make a huge impact on the music industry.
