ARTIST - Monsters are not Myths

NorCal rockers Monsters are not Myths are out to prove that there really was something snarling underneath your bed as a kid. The band formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2004. Guitarist Nick Giordano met singer/keyboardist Evan Hamilton via craigslist, stole their band name from a seven-year-old boy, and began creating their unique brand of rock. Sometimes described as "Nirvana with piano, inspired by Dylan", Monsters are not Myths defies true definition by melding their hard-hitting rock and punks roots with folk and blues. Monsters are not Myths have established themselves in the California rock scene with two CD's: the acoustic EP Portable Luminaire (2004), and the full-length Vague Smiles (2005), for which they won Silver and Gold awards respectively in the Santa Cruz Metro Readers Poll. Finalists in Your Music Magazine's 2006 Battle of the Bands, MANM has also been featured on KZSC 88.1fm, The X 103.9fm, and on numerous compilations. They were even mentioned in Vegetarian Times, but are still waiting for a call from Cat Fancy Magazine. The band's unique arrangements create an addictive visceral energy.
