ARTIST - BRONX CHILD POSSE (B.C.P)
Founded5/2004CityBronx, NYAboutBCP (Bronx Child Posse) The up and coming Hip Hop group, BCP (Bronx Child Posse) is ready to show the music industry the "true
meaning" of Hip Hop. Created in 2003, the posse consists of Kilo Da Don, OT, Shyst Leak and Cut-Castro. The name, Bronx Child
Posse, is a depiction of their originality and individuality. "We wanted to decide on a name that represents who we are as
individuals and who we are as a team", says Kilo, "We are all children of the Bronx, and so it is only right that our group
name expresses that." They feel using the word "posse" illustrates their unity. As Bronx natives, they have all experienced
dissimilar life styles and with their knowledge they each contribute necessary aspects that are essential for forming an accomplished
team. Kilo is the raw and edgy member of the group that also handles the finances and business plans. OT brings the energy
and creativity, Cut brings a flashy laid back flow to the table and Shyst brings the two most important aspects, passion and
drive. "We are four artists with completely different personalities," says OT. "We want to show people that we have what it
takes to make it." Musically, their talent is unquestionable; however, they each have their own rhyming and writing skills,
rapping styles, and unique sounds, which will separate them from other male Hip Hop artists. Being inspired by artists/groups
like 2Pac, Biggie, Jay-Z and Bone Thugs and Harmony, they say it is the uniqueness in these artists they find most influential.
Nonetheless, BCP does not have the same sound/style as the artists they are influenced by. Their unique writing process is
another quality that separates them from other artists. Most artists write solely on their emotions, life experiences or just
for entertainment purposes, but BCP explains that the "beat" creates their writing. "We listen to a beat, and we let it guide
our words," stated Shyst. "We write songs based on the emotion and feeling that comes from a particular beat," he adds. BCP
has performed at places such as Shrine Auditorium, Rebel, PJ's Lounge, Club Snitch, SOB's and The Revival Lounge, in which
was sponsored by Power 105.1. It is no doubt that Hip Hop is the home for BCP. They describe Hip Hop as a representation of
freedom. "We love Hip Hop because it represents "us"-where we come from and who we are-," expresses Kilo. The group believes
that Hip Hop is a way to openly say what they want without getting into trouble. "Our main goal is to change the face of Hip
Hop. We do not have to sound alike, look alike and be alike to be a successful team," says Cut Castro. Indeed BCP has already
accomplished many goals in their arise to becoming well known artists in the industry. It was their passion, drive, consistency
and confidence that have brought them thus far and it will be these same qualities that will continue to keep them a success.
